On October 21–22, the Powerexpo Almaty 2026 International Energy Forum was held at the Atakent Exhibition Centre in Almaty. The event brought together industry representatives, government authorities, energy companies, and technology solution developers to discuss key issues related to the development of Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure.
As part of the forum, Zhaksylyk Sagymbekov, Chief Engineer and representative of Alatau Zharyk Company JSC, took part in the plenary session titled “Almaty Energy: 105 Years of Development and New Growth Opportunities.”
The discussion focused on the development prospects of Almaty and the Almaty power system through 2035, growing electricity demand, modernization of power generation facilities and electricity grids, as well as ensuring a reliable power supply for new industrial zones and the Alatau City project.
Other key topics included aligning energy infrastructure development with the city’s development plans, attracting investment, and ensuring the stability and reliability of electricity supply during peak demand periods.
